After losing a few matches against bots, I am searching for ways to improve my gameplay. I know I will continue to do better when the ratings/team chem and experience go up, and I will win matches against bots since that point. But before that point, I want to improve my formation and tactics.

So I have a few questions and remarks about the game engine.

Example:
Last game all players shoot between 3-5 shots, except the left back (shooting = 3) who shot 17 times, and scored only 1 of them
In my settings I chose to attack through the center with jump shots, because my CB playmaker has decent shooting (4) and is 202 cm tall. He shot 0/3.

Questions:
Does attacking through center or left/right mean that the shots will be taken primarily or at least more from that position?

Can a playmaker be the one that shoots the most, or does the ME inhibit the playmaker from shooting and make him pass instead? (This is what happened in the example, I think)

How important is stamina in these games? Would it be better to use 2 formations with completely different players for each halve?

Can you recover energy during the game? (e.g. play first 20 min, then be on the bench for 20, and then play 20 min again)

Do you recover energy at halftime?

How do the fastbreaks work? In real handball, the typical fastbreaks are usually performed by the fast wings, while the other players don't participate as much. So does playing on fastbreaks require speed for all players on the field or only for wings? Does the defence play a role in this (e.g. 3-3 is easier for fastbreaks than 6-0)

Last one: How can you distinguish a fast break from a normal attack in the match reports?

Thanks in advance!

I´m still faily new at TeamHB, but i will tell you what I know.
Stamina does impact energy wich in turn modifies the skill of your players, by an amount multiplied by the time he plays.
Assuming 2 equal value line-ups,it would be better to change the team midgame.
The players do not recover energy during the game, not even at half-time.
About the rest I am still guessing, and would like to know too.

I made an Excel worksheet, where I put all my players and then calculated sums of skills needed for every position and picked players according to that, not to lonely skill. On first season I lost most of games against bots, but on second season started to win mostly. Now I'm hunting my second promotion despite of having only "home village" players and non-existent knowledges of handball tactic.

Hi Kobe_S!

I already play this game for a while (I already played it in its golden time, around 2012) to understand how it is working. And, I can say to you that most questions you are making cannot be easily answered because it depends solely in the game code. These are decisions developers made and, therefore, may not be easy to make it like a real life game or easy to answer, but I'll do my best to help you.

------
Does attacking through center or left/right mean that the shots will be taken primarily or at least more from that position?

Actually yes. But I guess (only guessing, not sure), that center means all positions except wings, which made your LB to shot the most. Not sure, tho.

------
Can a playmaker be the one that shoots the most, or does the ME inhibit the playmaker from shooting and make him pass instead? (This is what happened in the example, I think)

Not sure, but I think it is unrelated. Therefore, it makes very little sense to have only 1 player doing it all, in real life.

------
How important is stamina in these games? Would it be better to use 2 formations with completely different players for each halve?

Stamina is not something you should pay attention in lower divisions. It is as Ragnbone said, but as you'll play mostly against bots, their teams will be the same for the entire game, so you'll not be left behind because of that. In my opinion, that should be your last concern.

------
Can you recover energy during the game? (e.g. play first 20 min, then be on the bench for 20, and then play 20 min again)

Do you recover energy at halftime?

About these 2, I guess there's no information in FAQ for them to be answered properly. At least, I didn't find any. It is a developer decision, as I said earlier, but I think they do not. But again, do not worry a lot about that in lower divisions.

------
How do the fastbreaks work? In real handball, the typical fastbreaks are usually performed by the fast wings, while the other players don't participate as much. So does playing on fastbreaks require speed for all players on the field or only for wings? Does the defence play a role in this (e.g. 3-3 is easier for fastbreaks than 6-0)

This is a very good question you do. I guess we all have to rely it will occur the best way possible and hope our players are fast enough, because I guess no one knows the answer to this question. Again, it's a developer decision.

------
Last one: How can you distinguish a fast break from a normal attack in the match reports?

It's very hard to do so, but you can check them in the actions report. If you see any "shoot against (goal or not) and shot for you" sequence, it's very likely to be a fast break. Otherwise, it's a normal attack.

I hope this helps somehow.

Thanks for the response. I just got my first win. The most effective strategy was finding the players with the most scoring percentages. For me, it seems like shooting + jumping are the most important measures for this. I've put them on LB and focus play on the left.
