At last, the Top Division/Regional Cup double has been achieved in the Asia-Oceania Region - by my very own Shortland Streeters!
I'm one very proud manager tonight. |

This season's Regional Cup final was an all-Kiwi derby!
Like all the other Asia-Oceania Regional Cup finals in TeamHB history to date, it was extremely close. Went right down to the wire, but I managed to sneak it by two goals.
So I have updated the Honours Board accordingly. Have also won the Top Division for the fourth straight season, with RedStar Light being runner up for the third season in a row. |

It's a three-peat of the double for me!
FESCO makes it on to the Honours Board for the first time after comfortably beating the Slumbering Skink in the final round to clinch the Top Division runner-up spot. |

Well, a big upset has just occurred in the Regional Cup final - FESCO beat my Shortland Streeters 38-36 in extra time! My team actually led most of the way, but choked in the last ten minutes and choked even more in the extra ten minutes. I must say that although I beat FESCO by ten goals in a league game last weekend, I knew the Regional Cup final would be a lot closer, because Cup finals are ALWAYS close. It's almost as if a nailbiting final is programmed into the match engine or something. Wasn't expecting to lose though!
But congratulations to FESCO, who have taken over from RedStar Light as my main Asia-Oceania rival. They are a real force to be reckoned with now. I might be wrong, but I think it's the first time they've beaten me (although actually, I might have lost to them way back in the inaugural season). Oh well, it adds a bit of variety to the Honours Board.
I have maintained my stranglehold on the Top Division title though, so I was guaranteed a place in next season's HBLC regardless of the outcome of tonight's match. At the end of the day, the loss means a little bit less prize money and one less trophy in the cabinet, but I can live with that. |

I've made the Regional Cup mine again after knocking FESCO out in the quarter-finals (sweet, sweet revenge!) and beating old foes RedStar Light 32-29 in the final tonight.
However, my monopoly on the Asia-Oceania Top Division is in serious danger of being broken! FESCO are in pole position right now, but I'm ahead of them on goal difference, so if I can beat them in Sunday night's season finale, then I could still take out the Top Division for an amazing seventh consecutive season! It's going to be very, very tough though. But at least the Regional Cup is back in my trophy cabinet! |

Won the Top Division after beating FESCO 30-20 in the final game. I then took it out on goal difference. But commiserations to FESCO, who finished runners-up in the Top Division for the third consecutive season. |

Board updated as Season Eight draws to a close. The Shortland Streeters won the Top Division for the 8th straight season! But in the Regional Cup final a few days earlier, FESCO embarrassed them 29-25. That's the second Regional Cup title for FESCO. A good result for them after a somewhat disappointing showing in the Top Division. |

The Shortland Streeters' long reign at the top is over at last. After eight straight Asia-Oceania Top Division Championships, they have finally been knocked off their perch by the Slumbering Skink, who also knocked them out of the Regional Cup. However, the Skink didn't manage to do the double, as RedStar Light captured the Cup for the first time in many seasons.
I couldn't even get on the honours board as a Top Division runner up. The Chigasaki Buffaloes, bridesmaids in the Regional Cup, took out second place in the TD as well after beating me 32-26 in the final round tonight.
Quite often long periods of dominance end with pretty heavy failures. Ah well, I was kind of bored with dominating for so long any way. Congratulations to the Skink and RedStar Light on their respective achievements. |

The departure of both the Slumbering Skink and Chigasaki Buffaloes this season has helped me get back on the Honours Board. Was upset in the Regional Cup by Kuwait Handball, but well done to them for winning it and giving our region a new face in the League of Champions. I did at least manage to win the Top Division again, but it was desperately close, with my goal difference being 413 and that of RedStar Light being 410! |
